I admit it, I like Dry January. I'm well aware that applauding this trend to stop drinking alcohol for the whole month of January is very self-righteous. It would be more in keeping with the tone of Le Regard Libre to castigate these moralizing detoxes that curb the individual choice to turn one's head upside down. But I can't help it: I have a real admiration for people who decide to stop hurting their bodies, even temporarily, and who give themselves the means to do so.
