Pierre Soulages and his «outrenoir» challenge the eye at the Fondation Gianadda

After an exhibition on Cézanne last year and another on Toulouse-Lautrec at the beginning of the year - more classical in their genre - visitors to the Fondation Pierre Gianadda in Martigny, Valais, find themselves faced with a rather surprising Pierre Soulages. The main room is transformed: white, black. This contrasts with the softness of Cézanne's Sainte-Victoire and peasant portraits, or Toulouse-Lautrec's warm, playful Belle Epoque. The «Soulages: A Retrospective» exhibition runs until November 25.
