«Prendre un enfant par la main...» (Take a child by the hand). When you read these words or hear the melody behind them, you immediately recognize the singer Yves Duteil. A singer-songwriter, he is also a writer. We met him when he was in Geneva to sign his book Et si la clé était ailleurs, which takes the title of one of his songs.

Le Regard Libre: What triggered the writing of this book?

Yves Duteil: The trigger was the publisher. We'd been working together on the columns I'd written for his Panorama magazine for ten years, eleven columns a year. It was he who asked me to write a more cursive book, like a spiritual journey, an itinerary. I immediately agreed, although I wondered what form I would choose. At first, I wrote like a succession of chronicles, but I could see that I'd have to be more specific.
