The lifting of the taboo on nuclear power in Switzerland by the right wing of the political spectrum is not exactly reviving the same debate as five years ago. The country's energy independence, particularly with regard to dictatorships, and the risk of blackouts are examples of issues that are entering the discussion in a very concrete way. Philippe Nantermod (P. N.): In the short term, four power plants are still in operation. They supply around a third of our electricity consumption.’
