«Never bet against the United States of America,» wrote the Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffet, in his annual letter of 2021. Perhaps it was an ill-formulated vow, an injunction to American stock traders - or perhaps more: a piece of friendly, mafia-style advice.
Welcoming Trump's new presidency as a thunderclap no longer feels the same as it did in 2016, when we were first discovering the animal. We were humbly convinced that this man would never become President of the United States. And yet. Once again, the Democratic Party has lost, and America is ever more polished.
