Le Regard Libre The December 2024 issue of Regard Libre inaugurates a new paper. Recycled, less clinically white and more embossed, this material is consistent with our monthly feature, dedicated to the value of age, and marks the beginning of an evolution in our media.
Publishing which we are publishing at the end of this year is special. Among other things, it marks the start of a transformation of the paper version of the Regard Libre. Not its graphic design, which was renewed to mark our tenth anniversary earlier this year. Nor in its editorial line, dedicated since the magazine's inception to the debate of ideas and culture. The change is physical, and it will be twofold. The first is a new paper, and it's this issue that inaugurates it. We've replaced glossy paper with recycled paper. There are several reasons for this, the most important of which is the quality of the touch and the visuals.
So, old paper becomes our new paper. This milestone coincides with the theme of this month's issue: in an age of youthism, of old-fashioned thinking, of short-term visions and of the image of old age primarily as a cost center, our editorial team wanted to explore the value of age. The new materiality of these pages, and the circular economy in which they are now part, have a symbolic value of their own.
The second physical change to your monthly magazine will be a reduction in the number of pages., from the January issue next month. While we're not making this choice out of the goodness of our hearts, we're taking it on with conviction. By reducing the size of the magazine from 68 to 54 pages, we'll be able to concentrate on the best content, while reducing the number of repeats from other media or translations, which we'll reserve for our website. Above all, if we take the risk of reducing the thickness of this publication, it's not to reduce our efforts, but to place them elsewhere.
In 2025, we will launch our video offering, with a talk show to be filmed in Lausanne.. We've been working on this project for a long time, so we're particularly pleased to be able to announce it at last. The investments in equipment have been made, the team assembled, and important partnerships forged. Once the tests have been completed and the credits created, we'll be in a position in a few months to offer the first capsule of this ambitious event, which will be available on YouTube and other channels. Audiovisual media have become indispensable, not least when it comes to exchanging points of view. In particular, we want to show the diversity of ideas that exist among young people, which is rarely highlighted on Swiss channels aimed at them.
Quality first: this continues to guide our strategic decisions. With this in mind, we've also taken the liberty of delaying the arrival of this holiday issue a little, to ensure that its content is as relevant as possible, both in form and content. Of course, we'll be keeping a close eye on our progress. We look forward to hearing from you, and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
