Right-wing, left-wing, conservative, reactionary, progressive, liberal, socialist, communist, universalist, populist, environmentalist, interventionist, protectionist, sovereignist... so many labels that structure political and intellectual life. As in the traditional opposition between right and left, these labels often only take on their meaning in relation to each other. Cleavages emerge that profoundly determine democratic processes.
