PMA for single women, the forgotten child of the debate?

Journalist Marianne Grosjean sends out a message in each of her columns. This month, she comments on advances in medically assisted reproduction (MAP) in Switzerland.
Switzerland may be about to take another step towards the medicalization of procreation. A committee of the National Council has agreed to authorize sperm donation for single women. If the sister committee of the Council of States follows suit, the law will change: medically assisted procreation (MAP), currently reserved for couples, would be open to women without a partner.
The fact that this proposal brought together elected representatives from across the political spectrum says something about the times. The idea that it is possible to conceive a child without imitating nature - i.e., the union of a man and a woman - has gradually taken hold in people's minds, to the point where it has become increasingly accepted that it is possible to conceive a child without imitating nature.
