According to Mark Schelker, the Swiss Confederation lacks key tax data. The economist calls for secure centralization of information to better predict the effects of tax reforms, such as the Young Socialists' initiative on inheritance.

Professor of Public Economics at the University of Fribourg, Mark Schelker takes a close interest in the mechanisms governing taxation in Switzerland. In a country where taxation is a cantonal responsibility, he observes the limitations of a system that struggles to provide a sufficient data base for rigorous analysis on a national scale. Federalist though he is, the researcher highlights the challenges posed by the lack of harmonized access to tax data, particularly when it comes to assessing the real impact of public policies.
