As usual, the director blurs the boundaries between documentary and fictional narrative, taking us to an Italian town where a fifth gospel is being written, against a backdrop of social criticism.

Not much of a cinephile for a decade, I simply hadn't taken the time to watch any of his films. Fortunately, I made sure to rectify that a few years ago, and it was with J'ai tué ma mère that I took the plunge.
