The Christian dimension of Aznavour's work

In an artistic career spanning almost a century, every theme has found its place. Aznavour has, of course, sung about love above all, and through it so many other dimensions of life, including faith. Although most French artists have now abandoned religious lyrics, they are very much present in the work of the man who sang an Ave Maria that brought tears to the eyes of the world. Whether in evoking the figure of God the Father, Mary or Christ, in prayer, or in lyrics that speak directly of faith, there's no doubt that Charles Aznavour came from and lived in a profoundly Christian culture; his lyrics prove it.
