Le Regard Libre N° 50 - Clément Guntern

Although often criticized for its environmental impact, agriculture deserves to be taken seriously. It is a key element in the global political game. If this aspect is neglected, we run the risk of losing our grip on the resolution of global problems.

Despite the illusion that digital technology is replacing all forms of activity, agriculture remains a central issue in human society. Our times are no exception to the rule. As a sector of activity, agriculture crystallizes a certain number of transversal tensions, just like the environment or health. It is an area subject to much greater social pressure than many other economic sectors: demands in terms of pesticides, animal welfare, biodiversity, water and soil management, etc., are all on the rise.
