Gathered at the Geneva Book Fair by Le Regard Libre last month, French philosophers Valentin Husson and Pierre-Yves Quiviger, both who were passionate about wine, defended an aesthetic approach to life that went against the grain of prevailing hygienism.

Both are philosophers who teach their disciplines. One, Valentin Husson, teaches at the University of Strasbourg. The other, Pierre-Yves Quiviger, at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. A specialist in the philosophy of law, he devoted his first book to his other passion, wine, in September, soberly entitled Une philosophie du vin. Published at the same time, L'art des vivres by his friend from Strasbourg is subtitled «Une philosophie du goût» ("A philosophy of taste").
