At least since the 18th century and Voltaire's sojourns in Lausanne and Geneva, the Lake Geneva region has been a haven for many intellectuals, attracted by its peaceful political climate and the prospect of a relaxing life.

Since the end of 2023, the Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts de Lausanne has been presenting its latest exhibition devoted to the beginnings of immersive art. On two floors, the viewer wanders at will through the dozen or so installations, bewildered.

Director of Editions de L'Aire since 1978, Michel Moret is a leading publisher in French-speaking Switzerland. In recent years, his Vevey-based publishing house has embarked on a republication of the works of Charles Ferdinand Ramuz, in its L'Aire bleue paperback collection. Le Regard Libre asked him about this initiative. My wanderings through the world of letters and the stage have brought me into contact with many extraordinary people. Such is the case with the duo formed by Emilie Boré, saucy storyteller and former head of communications at the Théâtre Benno Besson, and Daniel Abimi, journalist and author of black novels from Lausanne. With their singular universes, these two personalities of the French-speaking cultural landscape complement each other well. So much so, in fact, that they have co-written a book entitled Bora Bora Dream. As they prepare to leave for a new land and unusual adventures, I wanted to meet them to discuss their story, literature and draw their portrait. To show how literature can create magical bonds and complicities.

A very, very dark dystopia
Twenty-one-year-old Mélanie and her parents have decided to commit assisted suicide together, following Mr.'s cancer and Mrs.'s inability to continue living without him. With Radio Nostalgie playing in the Lausanne tee-room where she works as a waitress, Mélanie tries to mourn. She's trying - which is no mean feat. Everything now refers to her as dead or undead. The city is populated by spirits, the same ones that the young girl she used to be used to ward off in her nights. She begins a relationship with a young man, David, who in a way serves as her mirror and healer.
On Monday May 20, the Théâtre de Vidy presented the first part of its new 2019-2020 season. The last season before the theater's renovation, it promises to be rich in quality artists and committed performances.
